How Can I Help? This is probably the question we are asked most often. Many, many people have done so much for us already - watching Chelsea, preparing dinners, taking care of misc. errands. The list goes on and on. We are very grateful for everything everyone has done. Some
people have volunteered to donate blood specifically for Alyssa. This is a very
generous offer, because Chemo patients very often need some sort of blood
transfusion to replace the blood products the Chemo is killing. Unfortunately,
it would not be practical to donate your blood specifically for Alyssa's use.
Today, donated blood goes through so many screens, tests, and filters that it
would never be ready for Alyssa when she needed it. Instead we would ask you to donate
your blood - just because. You will be helping Alyssa and
who knows how many other people. As they say, "The next life you save could
be your own". I have been giving blood for many years. I know it's not
always the most enjoyable experience, but so many people need blood products.
So, if you feel comfortable giving blood, please do. Contact the Red
Cross for a donation center near you.
